Our Story
Tonkina is a beauty brand built in Vietnam, united by one vision: to share our country’s most precious botanicals with the world through safe, effective, and sustainable skincare. We don’t do everything alone. Our strength comes from working with a network of trusted partners across Vietnam — farmers, researchers, and expert formulators — who share our passion for creating skincare that respects skin health and the planet. Together, we bring the best of Vietnam’s nature and modern science to you.
Where Nature Meets Heritage
Vietnam is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth, with about 16,000 plant species — about 10% found nowhere else. For generations, these botanicals have been used for healing and care. From highland forests to fertile valleys, these plants endure extreme conditions, concentrating nutrients and antioxidants to protect themselves. We believe those same survival traits can protect and restore human skin.
Why Vietnamese Ginseng
In our search for Vietnam’s most potent botanical, we found something extraordinary - Vietnamese ginseng. Researchers have discovered it contains 52 saponins, the most valuable active compounds in ginseng, compared to just 23 in other ginseng. This makes it one of the rarest and most powerful adaptogens in the world.
Our journey led us to a farm in the mist-covered mountains of Lai Châu, at 1,700 meters above sea level. This farm is dedicated to reviving Vietnamese ginseng’s legacy and cultivating it with care - grown in pure mountain air, nurtured in mineral-rich soil, and harvested at peak potency.
